STAFF PICKS

We have been selling motorcycle gear for 14 years now, and one of the questions we keep getting asked is "what do you wear on the bike?" We highly rate all of the items we sell, or we wouldn't have selected them in the first place. But when it comes to our personal preferences, we are fortunate enough to be able to cherry-pick exactly what suits our needs and style.

Next up on our staff picks is our content manager Morgan Ager. Morgan went through a whole slew of bikes before falling in love with his Triumph Scrambler XE. Morgan's gear is perfectly suited to his bike and riding style. Watch the video below, he'll tell you all you need to know!

Roeg Peruna Helmet

"It's light and comfortable, I wear this for as long as possible throughout the year"

The Peruna is Dutch brand Roeg's first full-face helmet and they nailed it. Its design sits perfectly between aggressively styled, off-road inspired lids (like the Bell Moto 3) and rounder, retro-looking helmets (think Biltwell Gringo). It makes for a versatile helmet that suits virtually any bike.

"This is my go to... it gives you that open face feel with full face protection"

100% Barstow Goggles

"I love these goggles and will probably get a second pair soon."

The Barstow from 100% are a premium goggle with impressive technical specifications and stunning classic looks. While the design is clearly based on the off-road goggles of days long gone, the Barstow is constructed using the latest technologies.

Every year a new range of Barstow designs get released and this year's collection might be our favourite so far.

Arai Tour-X4 Helmet

"They nailed it. The Tour-X4 is a super comfortable Do-It-All helmet."

One of their most versatile helmets yet, Arai’s Tour-X 4 is ready for adventure, grand touring or off-road (and without the peak looks pretty decent on a naked bike too). You can wear this helmet pretty much any way that suits you, whether that’s visorless with goggles, or with a visor and the peak off - it really is up to you. The Tour-X 4 has a touring-motocross hybrid shape with contouring to cleverly incorporate its front and rear ventilation systems into the design. The meticulously tested shell is design for strength, structural integrity and impact flexibility, passing ECE 22-05 safety standards.

Goldtop 76 Armoured Leather Jacket

"I tried on every single leather jacket in the Urban Rider store, and this was my favourite."

The Goldtop 76 jacket is a timeless looking jacket for modern-day riders. It is based on Goldtop's original 1976 Scuftuf jacket but has been updated to house Knox's state of the art Micro-lock armour. The Goldtop team is passionate about their products and it fully shows: this jacket is manufactured from hand-selected, 1.4mm thick aniline cowhides. Goldtop have created a highly competent and protective riding jacket that screams biker heritage. When it was put through the latest CE testing, this jacket achieved the highest AAA safety rating.

Revit Shade H2O Jacket

"When it comes to practicality I'm a bit of a Rev'It fanboy!"

When Morgan was looking for a practical all-weather jacket, he wisely opted for the Bowery. Sadly, that style has now been discontinued but fret not, they have since released the impressive Shade H2O!

Based on the summer riding favourite Rev’it Eclipse jacket, the Shade takes that ethos of simplicity-is-best and gives it a cold-weather makeover. There are no frills here, and that is a mighty good thing. Clean, universal lines and a flattering, lightly tailored fit means this jacket is going to suit just about any rider with ease.

In Rev’it’s own words, the Shade is back-to-basics - yet that doesn’t have to mean you miss out on any of the features and practicality of many other far more expensive jackets on the market. Full waterproofing and breathability comes in the way of a Hydratex®|mesh G-liner, meaning you can tackle the inevitable downpours and stay bone dry. The Shade also features a detachable thermal liner, extending the useability of this jacket through the coldest months, and even offering a lightweight waterproof option for Spring and early Summer.

It’s impossible to put a foot wrong with the Rev’it Shade H2O jacket. It will have you covered from Autumn through Winter and well into Spring, and for a very attractive price. Potentially the best value jacket on the market right now.

Belstaff Long Way Up Down Jacket

"This is one of my favourite things I've ever bought. It fits underneath any jacket and keeps you very warm."

To mark the brand’s 3rd partnership with moto adventure series Long Way Up, Belstaff has designed this versatile down jacket. Worn throughout the filming of the 15,000km trip from Ushuaia, South America to LA, the Long Way Up Down jacket has been crafted to provide higher levels of functionality and adaptability.

Constructed from water-repellent Nylon with a natural duck down interior, this jacket offers impressive insulating properties helping to regulate heat and humidity. The puffer jacket packs away with ease without coming out looking like a used bin bag but has a formidable warmth-to-weight ratio. Worn as a separate jacket or as an insulating layer, the Long Way Up Down jacket is a good looking jacket that provides you with flexibility in unpredictable weather.

Uglybros Featherbed-K Trousers

"I wanted these trousers long before I joined Urban Rider. They look so cool and are extremely comfortable."

In undeniable UglyBROS fashion, the Featherbed-K jeans have elastic shirring above the knees and on the lower back and external pockets to easily remove and insert the included knee armour. Underneath the sturdy 12oz stretched denim it is reinforced with aramid fibre panels in critical areas. The slim straight fit and elastic nature of the shirring make for a very comfortable pair of jeans, whether you're riding or walking around.

Resurgence Warrior Lite Jeans

"These are great value for a protective, well-built jean with a very nice cut."

The new and improved Warrior Pekev Lite jeans by Resurgence Gear now have 80% Pekev Lite coverage, come with top-of-the-line CE approved D3O Ghost armour and are CE certified to level AA.

Style, tailoring and comfort also play a big part in Resurgence Gear design - the slim fit leg together with the moisture-wicking inner mesh lining ensures you can wear these jeans all day long, on or off the bike.

TCX Drifter Waterproof Boots

"They feel super sturdy, and you don't lose out on dexterity that much."

The TCX Drifter is the ideal boot for whoever likes to ride anything, anywhere, any condition, any time, for a long time. TCX constructed the Drifter boots around their often praised, ergonomically outstanding Comfort Fit System so you can rest assured that whatever precarious situations your adventures throw at you, your feet will be comfortable. They'll also be protected: the Drifter boot features a prominent polyurethane shin plate, sturdy malleolus inserts and a leather shift pad. The outer layer is a high quality leather with a vintage finish and there are suede heat guard panels on the inside of the boot. The three ratchet closures have aluminium buckles and provide a perfectly adjustable fit for those long days in the saddle. The waterproof and breathable liner completes this already impressive package.

TCX Hero Goretex Waterproof Boots

"You can't go wrong with TCX. These have stood the test of time and are nowhere near finished."

TCX has a reputation to uphold when it comes to the quality and design of their footwear. Once again, they do not disappoint: have a look at the TCX Hero WP boot. Constructed from high-quality full-grain leather that will age nicely. TCX keeps your feet protected by incorporating reinforced toe and heel contours and full malleolus protection. The gusseted zip on the inside of the foot means you get easy access to the boot, but there's still round waxed laces to offer a nice vintage workboot look. Its most defining and attractive feature, however, is the fully waterproof yet breathable liner on the inside, making this the perfect boot for all-season riding.

Revit Sand 4 H2O Gloves

"The clue is in the name, these are properly waterproof."

If you find yourself venturing beyond the asphalt, the Sand 4 H2O brings enough dirt pedigree to give you the protection and dexterity you need but in a more weather friendly waterproof package. Perfect if you live somewhere with unstable weather but just can’t shake the urge to ride.

Revit know their two-wheeled explorers don’t want bulky gloves because clutch control is more important than ever when you are negotiating the off-road. The design team wanted to ensure the glove was capable in nasty conditions while keeping the feel as natural as possible.

When it comes to protection, Revit never do anything by halves. The Sand 4 H2O features a TPR knuckle protector developed and designed especially for this glove which is complemented with additional TPR sliders on the fingers, thumb and palm to offer the rider comprehensive protection.

Kriega Max 28 Expandable Backpack

"I was amazed how much of a difference it makes to ride with a purpose-built motorcycle backpack."

If you're after motorcycle luggage, whether you're strapping it to the bike or yourself, Kriega needs no introduction. Their brand new Max28 backpack is the epitome of years of experience and it shows the attention to detail that make this brand loved by hordes of motorcyclists. They market this bag squarely at urban riders, but anyone that is familiar with the build quality and carrying comfort of a Kriega bag knows that its usability extends far beyond the concrete jungle.

The Max28 is equipped with Kriega's Quadloc-Lite harness that distributes the weight evenly across the torso and makes their bags so comfortable on the long haul. The bag itself consists of three sections: a fully waterproof pocket for a 15 inch laptop against your back, a fold down zipped compartment containing loads of organiser pockets on the front of the bag and a 22 litre central compartment in between.
